    • Eleanor was also known as Ellen. She was the daughter of a clergyman and married a clergyman, living her married life in Kilmanaheen in County Clare, Ireland, and bearing five children.

      1803 marriage record, Dublin:
      Whitty John (Rev.) and Ellen Palmer

      +++++

      Eleanor's sister, Mary Anne / Marianne married John's older brother Rev Irwine Whitty

      There is some confusion over Eleanor?s age at death: the gravestone states she was 75, but the memorial in Ennistymon suggests she was 78.

      'In memory of Ellen Whitty the beloved wife of the Archdeacon of Kilfenora who departed this life May 9th 1858 aged 75 years.
