DSO medal recommendation for John Whitty, for his actions during an attack at Romagnoli.
"...lt-col Whitty went forward over an area swept by heavy machine gun and mortar fire, co-ordinated supporting weapons, and by deliberatly exposing himself to enemy fire set such an example that his men were encouraged...his leadership and complete indifference to danger inspired his unit throughout the action.."

Foundation stone, St John's church Ealing, at main entrance, with Julius Summerhayes named on it, since he was Vicar when it was built.
"To the Glory of God, Father Son and Holy Ghost, this stone was laid by Mrs Walpole, June 26th 1875, Julius Sumerhayes, Vicar, Alfred Beloe..." [the rest is unclear from the photo but the engraving mentions that the last church burnt down]

Fountain constructed by William MacRae & sons, Tain
Fountain constructed by William MacRae & sons, Tain
This fountain was created as part of the decorations for Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee Celebrations in 1887 on the former site of the market cross which had been moved as it was an obstruction to traffic. It was constructed by William Macrae & Sons, Plumbers, free of charge. Presumably it was built as a temporary feature. The fountain fixture (but not the base of rocks and ferns shown in this picture) was later transferred to the garden of Mansfield House (now the Mansfield House Hotel) which was occupied by the then Provost, Donald Fowler. It can still be seen in the hotel grounds.

The house is built in on the site of the Freiston Priory of St. James. The exact date of this house in uncertain. It was possibly built in the 16th century and re-fronted in a Georgian style by the Dryden family between 1714 and 1729.
